ORD (Operationally Ready Date)
National Service
The Operationally Ready Date marks the day a full-time National Serviceman completes his two years of full-time service and is discharged from active duty. It is a well-known milestone that many servicemen count down to. After ORD, the person transitions to operationally ready status, meaning he can still be called back for In-Camp Training, IPPT and other duties as an NSman for years afterward. ORD ends full-time service but not overall NS obligations. The exact service duration leading to ORD and post-ORD duties are subject to the latest rules.
