Ghosted after final round interview, should I follow up?

Had what felt like a great final interview 3 weeks ago, they said they'd revert in a week. Total silence since. I've sent one polite follow-up email, no reply. Do I chase again or move on?

Send exactly one more, then mentally move on. Ghosting after final round usually means one of: internal hiring freeze, they picked someone else and HR is slow/rude, or the headcount got pulled. None of those you can fix by chasing harder. My template that got replies: keep it short, "Hi X, following up on the [role] discussion on [date]. I remain very keen and wanted to check on timeline. Happy to provide anything further." If still silence after that, assume it's a no and keep applying elsewhere. I've had companies revert 6 weeks later out of nowhere because a budget reopened, so don't burn the bridge, just don't put your life on hold for them.

If you interviewed through an agency, chase the recruiter instead, they have more leverage to get an answer than you do. Direct applications, HR here is notoriously slow, three weeks is honestly still within normal range for local companies. Keep applying elsewhere in parallel and treat this as dead until proven alive.

Connect with the hiring manager on LinkedIn (not HR) if you had good rapport. A soft message there sometimes unsticks things because it lands in their personal inbox not the HR black hole. But only if the vibe was genuinely warm. Otherwise let it go, chasing three times reads as desperate.

Been ghosted more times than I can count. My rule now: after final round I give it 10 working days, one follow-up, then I emotionally close it. The ones meant for you don't leave you hanging three weeks. Protect your energy sia.
