Tuition
Education
Tuition refers to private supplementary lessons that many Singapore students take outside school hours, either one-to-one, in small groups, or at tuition centres. It is commonly used to strengthen weaker subjects, keep pace with the syllabus, or prepare for major exams like the PSLE and O- or A-Levels. Tuition is a large private industry here and is not part of the official school system, so quality, fees and methods vary widely. Tuition centres offering academic subjects generally need to be registered with the education authorities. It is optional, and effectiveness depends on the individual student.
