Public holidays and school holidays, just multiply the misery, avoid if you can. Tips for the crossing: make sure you have enough petrol (SG law requires your tank at least three-quarter full when leaving, they do check), have your passport with at least six months validity, get the Malaysian digital arrival card sorted online before you go, and top up your Touch n Go card and Malaysian toll needs. Tudou/Waze both show live causeway conditions, check before you leave, sometimes Tuas Second Link is faster even if it is a longer drive. Keep small change and be patient at the counters. Off-peak, the whole thing can be 20 minutes; peak, it is a test of your soul. Plan your timing and it is very manageable.
